Released in September 2021, "Senjutsu" is Iron Maiden's 17th studio album and means "tactics and strategy" in Japanese. This album, recorded in Paris at Guillaume Tell studio with producer Kevin Shirley, was kept secret for nearly three years before its official announcement. The character of Eddie appears as a samurai warrior, a first in the band's iconography, and reflects the Japanese and Oriental themes present in several tracks of the album, particularly in the title track "Senjutsu." The artwork was created by Mark Wilkinson, who took over from Derek Riggs for some of the band's recent illustrations.
